Keyboard conversion, not whole-message translation

The phrase AI keyboard translator can describe several products. In UnimeType, Convert does not translate every English sentence into another language. It applies enabled writing-system rules to matching spans in the current text.

Clear English, product names, code, URLs, email addresses, and other recognized protected values stay under preservation rules. If the text is ambiguous, the surrounding sentence helps select a reading; the result still needs review.

When this keyboard workflow fits

Use Convert when you already know what you want to write and changing keyboards or input sources would interrupt the middle of one message. Keep the active Latin layout while composing, then choose Convert after the target is ready.

  • English carries the main sentence and one or more spans need another writing system.
  • You prefer to finish the Latin-character draft before any text changes.
  • You want one deliberate action instead of automatic rewriting while you type.

Choose a different tool when the task is different

Use a conventional input method when you need character-by-character candidates, continuous composition, or offline typing. Use a translation or chat tool when you need a full passage translated, researched, or newly drafted.

Follow one mixed message from draft to result

Suppose a message contains a Japanese phrase, the place name Tokyo, and the English word meeting. Keep the entire draft in Latin characters until the wording is complete. After Japanese is enabled, choose Convert and inspect which spans changed.

The intended result changes the coherent Romaji span while leaving Tokyo and meeting in Latin letters when they are recognized as protected or English content. The example above illustrates that boundary; it is not a claim that every ambiguous token will be classified correctly.

The writable target and surrounding context have different jobs

The writable target is the text UnimeType may replace. In a host that exposes a selection, selecting one phrase gives Convert a narrow target. When no explicit selection is available, the client uses the text range the host exposes for the current input.

Surrounding text can help interpret a short or ambiguous fragment without automatically becoming part of the replacement. Host applications expose different ranges, so a successful replacement in one editor does not prove that every field exposes the same target.

Ordinary typing and an AI action are separate states

Entering characters does not start a conversion request. The request boundary occurs only after you choose Convert and complete any permission or consent step required by the current platform and connection.

This means you can inspect and edit the Latin-character source before an action starts. Convert is not a background language detector that continuously rewrites the field while you type.

Review the returned text at the boundaries that can be ambiguous

Check short Latin fragments that could be English or transliteration, names that intentionally stay in Latin letters, numbers used by a chat spelling system, and any word whose script changes its meaning. Narrow the selection or adjust enabled languages when the target is unclear.

For long drafting, research, translation, or correctness-sensitive text, move to a tool designed for that task. UnimeType keeps the action inside the current field, but the returned text remains a draft that you are responsible for reading before sending.

What to expect

Does UnimeType translate every word in the message?

No. Convert changes spans that match enabled input-language rules. It is not a promise to translate the complete message.

Does ordinary typing start an AI request?

No. A request starts only after you deliberately choose Convert, Polish, or Explain and complete any required consent step.

Does it replace a conventional Pinyin or Japanese IME?

No. Keep a conventional IME for candidate-by-candidate composition. UnimeType Convert works on a completed target or selection.

Can I convert only one phrase inside a longer message?

Yes, when the host exposes an explicit selection or another verifiable text range. Select the phrase, choose Convert, and confirm that the surrounding text stayed outside the writable target.

Does the AI keyboard translator rewrite text as I type?

No. Ordinary character entry leaves the draft unchanged. A conversion request starts only after you deliberately choose Convert.
